Bachelor of Science
My undergraduate degree is a Bachelor of Science (Nanotechnology) (Honours) awarded by [[ Flinders University ]]. Initially I chose it as part of a double degree with a Bachelor of Engineering Science because I liked the balance between [[ Chemistry ]] and [[ Biology ]] content. After the first year I re-evaluated my choice of doing a double degree due to poor experiences with lecturers and class mates - in short it was too much of a boys club for me.
History
In Year 11 of [[ Highschool ]] I was involved in a pilot programme hosted by [[ Flinders University ]] where a series of tasks that were supposed to measure aptitude towards university study were undertaken - I believe they now call this their Assessment Centre pathway. From this I was awarded a guaranteed entrance to the Bachelor of Science (Nanotechnology) and Bachelor of Engineering Science double degree program. I commenced this program in 2018, but then dropped Engineering Science and transfered to the Bachelor of Science (Nanotechnology) (Honours) program. I made this choice for the reasons specified above, though also because I believed an earlier graduation to focus on further education to be the better option over two undergraduate degrees. The undergraduate portion of this degree was completed in 2020, and Honours in 2021. My [[ Honours Project ]] was on the effects of Phospholipase on phospholipid bilayer membranes. In 2021 I was also awarded a Chancellorβs Letter of Commendation - given to those who have shown outstanding academic achievement through a high GPA.
